RTL dreht Action-Abenteuer mit Starbesetzung

RTL hat Großes vor: In Südafrika wird derzeit der Action-Abenteuer-Streifen 'The Lost Future' gedreht. Für die internationale Koproduktion, deren Budget sich auf rund sieben Millionen US-Dollar beläuft, stehen eine ganze Reihe bekannter Schauspielstars vor der Kamera, darunter Sean Bean ('Der Herr der Ringe', 'Troja'), Eleanor Tomlinson (bekannt aus Tim Burtons 'Alice im Wunderland'-Adaption), Sam Claflin ('Die Säulen der Erde') und Annabelle Wallis ('Die Tudors').

Regie führt bei dem futuristischen Film-Abenteuer der Emmy-Preisträger Mikael Salomon ('Band of Brothers', 'The Company').

Ein möglicher Ausstrahlungstermin für den Film wurde noch nicht bekannt gegeben.

Casting: Bean, Rhames, and Trejo in Death Race Prequel
Death Race 2: Frankenstein Lives (2010) Movie — By Nix on February 16, 2010

Two bit of casting news today. First up, STYD rounds out the cast for the prequel to Paul W.S. Anderson’s “Death Race” reboot, titled “Death Race: Frankenstein Lives”, which will take a look at the man behind the Frankenstein mask. Joining Luke Goss as Carl Lucas, the man who would become Frankenstein, will be Sean Bean as Luke’s old mob boss, Ving Rhames as a Rupert Murdoch type responsible for setting up the Death Race, and perennial pissed off Mexican guy Danny Trejo as Luke’s prison pal. As far as I know, still no word on Natalie Martinez (below) returning as Case, Frankenstein’s navigator in the first movie, and who will also be appearing in the prequel.

Sean Bean Joins The Magnificent Eleven

Irvine Welsh's football comedy gets cast

We reported last year that Trainspotting novelist Irvine Welsh was planning to follow up his darts film Good Arrows with a football-themed tale called The Magnificent Eleven, which combines the beautiful game with The Magnificent Seven.

Now, with Stealth Media Group busy rounding up sales deals and financing at the Berlin Film Festival, it looks like it’ll finally be ready to crank into production.

And Welsh has recruited a few cast members, including Sean Bean, Dougray Scott and – in a nice touch that truly links the comedy with its cinematic inspiration – Robert Vaughn, the final surviving member of the Magnificent Seven role call.

Pete and John Adams wrote the script (which Welsh has joined them to polish) and the plot finds a local amateur football team trying to protect the owners of their favourite tandoori restaurant from bandits – or, in this case, a gang of thugs led by a nasty piece of work named Blond Bob.

There’s no word on when Welsh will get shooting, but with Vaughn on board, we’re looking forward to this one even more.

SEAN BEAN AND HIS WOMEN

SEAN Bean loves women. He has had four wives and is father to three daughters. But he’s no closer to understanding them now at the age of 50 than he was when he first married at 20.

“That’s one thing that does not change with age,” he says. “Women have always been a bit of a mystery and that is probably the way it should be. It makes them more exciting.

“I would sooner be tested on the history of the football team I support – Sheffield United – than what I know about women. I think that’s probably the case for many blokes if they were honest.”

Bean has certainly given the impression that he’s spent years on researching the mysteries of the opposite sex. He celebrated his second wedding anniversary last month with wife number four, glamorous actress Georgina Sutcliffe who at 31 is 19 years his junior.

He’s also enjoyed the company of some of the world’s most beautiful women through his film roles or a private life that, as he cheerfully admits, “has never been dull”.

But he’s looking forward to life now that he’s 50. “It gives me a chance to play more mature characters, like fathers and mentors,” he says. “I can move away from the sex-symbol stuff.

“And in my own life things have become more settled. There will be no more divorce and I can aim to keep everyone happy. So I am embracing older age without fear.”

He has not been an ideal husband over the years, as he readily acknowledges. “Travelling the world as an actor is a killer for marriages,” he says. “You are not home for your kids either.

“I do regret that so I have tried to make up the time with them when I have been home. There have been weeks or months on end when I’ve not worked at all.

“But there are plenty of other jobs in which families have to live apart – like soldiers or oil rig workers – and so it is no use me whingeing or complaining. I’ve had a great life.”

But Bean, who was away from Britain for months when he was filming Sharpe and spent a year and a half on the other side of the world in New Zealand when he was shooting The Lord Of The Rings, is now working closer to home.

We meet on a wringing wet day in a field just north of London, about 12 miles from his present home, where he is currently filming with James Fox and another sex symbol of her day, Charlotte Rampling.

Bean is playing a government-employed assassin in a controversial new movie Clean Skin, from the director-writer Hadi Hajaig, which has been put together by private investors.

“It’s the best script I’ve read for years,” says Bean, who targets British-born Muslim terrorists in the film. “It’s so tense and full of surprises and I said ‘yes’ immediately.

“I like working in this country. I’ve never had a big desire to become a Hollywood star and move to Los Angeles. It’s just not me somehow.

“I like having the opportunity to work in England but if the parts and the films aren’t there, then you have to travel.”

Bean has certainly also lived the dream – from the days when he was a welder in Sheffield, working at his father’s steel works and living on a council estate from where Hollywood was viewed only from the local cinema.

“I put acting work in a compartment of life and just get on with it,” he says. “Whenever I feel like complaining, I think of how hard some of my mates work – and of the days when I was a welder.

“I am being paid to go to places and work. I’ve been paid to pretend to make love on screen to some beautiful women. Where is the hard work in that?

“When I used to turn up on the terraces of Sheffield United, my mates would say: ‘What’s so-and-so like?’ And I would tell them. It is something that most of us don’t get the chance to do in life.

“So if it’s cold and raining on a film set, so what? I just look around and think: ‘I bet this is going to look great on screen.’ I’ve no time for people who say acting is a hard life.”

It has been a life that Bean has embraced with a range of accents and styles, which have taken him far beyond his role as 1993’s favourite bit of rough, Mellors, in the TV version of Lady Chatterley’s Lover.

B y that point, Bean had already swept Melanie Griffith into bed on screen and out-acted Tommy Lee Jones in his movie debut Stormy Monday. He had also seen the late Richard Harris receive an Oscar nomination for his co-starring role in 1990’s The Field.

He’d played an Irish terrorist in pursuit of Harrison Ford in 1992’s Patriot Games and had begun a succession of films, set in the Napoleonic wars, as Richard Sharpe.

However, when he delivered a menacing villain as the double agent 006 in Pierce Brosnan’s debut film as James Bond, GoldenEye in 1995, it moved Bean up to a completely different level.

It led to a co-starring role with Robert De Niro in Ronin and much talk of a long-term Hollywood career.

“But I really could not get too worked up about that,” he says. “I always think I could be doing other things. I went the premiere for Ronin at the Venice Film Festival.

“It was an extraordinary experience but then it’s back to the hotel room and you think: ‘What was all that about?’

Whatever accent Bean uses on screen, when away from it he delivers in broad, no-nonsense Sheffield. “I can do accents, no problem,” he says. “I don’t know what anyone makes of them though, especially in America.”

But whenever it appears that he could easily carve out a career in Hollywood, he is more likely to come back and star in a British-made movie. For a man who wears his heart on his shoulder – a tattoo declaring “100 per cent Blade”, the nickname for his beloved Sheffield United – he could just be in the best place.

“My 20s were full of excitement, my 30s were all about consolidating and my 40s were about moving on. I started to look at things in a new light.

“Before the British film Essex Boys and The Lord Of The Rings, I had not worked for more than a year. The stuff I was being offered was not that good and I suddenly realised that I had to be careful about my choice of work.

“It is now probably the right time to move on from the action stuff because there is always the opportunity for men in their 50s to take on more mature roles.”

T he fact that he has hardly ever been out of work has come at a personal price, however. His first marriage to Debra, a local hairdresser, ended after he moved to London to pursue his acting career.

When his second marriage, to actress Melanie Hill (with whom he has two daughters, Lorna, 22, and Molly, 18) came to an end, she still spoke kindly of him when talking of his workaholic nature but revealed he was too fond of drinking with his male pals and watching football.

His subsequent third marriage to the actress Abigail Cruttenden, whom he met while working on Sharpe, lasted less than three years. The couple have an 11-year-old daughter, Evie.

He then met his fourth wife Georgina in a bar in London’s Soho called Gerry’s, which was set up by the late actor Gerald Campion, best known for his Fifties’ television role as Billy Bunter.

“You’d think I would know all there is to know about women now, wouldn’t you?” he asks uneasily.

“But don’t come to me if you want any expert advice. I’m still learning.”
